On the night of Saturday, April 12, 2025, between 9 and 10 p.m., something strange unfolded in the Texas sky. And you can’t blame our escape game rooms this time.
All across the Lone Star State—from Fort Worth to the Rio Grande Valley—people stopped, looked up, and grabbed their phones. What they saw sent social media into a frenzy: a glowing ring, a streak of light, and an object that didn’t belong.
Under the rising light of April’s full moon, viewers of KSAT 12 in San Antonio began flooding the station with photos and videos. Some described it as a “mysterious ring,” others a “flying object.” Theories spread like wildfire. Was it a UFO? Something more?
But the mystery, it turns out, had a very real explanation.
Meteorologist Adam Young from KCBD NewsChannel 11 in Lubbock was quick to clear the air. This wasn’t an alien encounter—it was a rocket launch. SpaceX confirmed on its official X account that it had launched a Falcon 9 rocket from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida that very evening. Aboard: 21 Starlink satellites, including 13 with new Direct to Cell capabilities.
