Houston tourist attractions around Locktopia

Since opening in May 2020, Locktopia Escape Room has been visited by Houston tourists and escape room enthusiasts from around the United States!

We know Houston tourists are looking for things to do in H-Town before/after our escape room games! Here is a list of things to do around Locktopia. Now we want to expand that for those travelling to Houston.

Locktopia is located near the Houston Museum District (next to the Texas Medical Center). That means your day of Houston vacation fun is a quick drive from our escape rooms.

Lots of Houston museums for tourists

Close by to Locktopia, is the Houston Museum District.

There you can go to the The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, Houston Museum of Natural Science, Children’s Museum Houston, Contemporary Arts Museum Houston, Houston Museum of African American Culture, Holocaust Museum Houston, Asia Society Texas Center, Buffalo Soldiers National Museum, The Health Museum, Houston Center for Contemporary Craft, Lawndale Art Center and other stops.

Even closer to Locktopia is the Moody Center for the Arts at Rice University.

Want even more museums? Then go north towards Montrose. In that area of Houston, enjoy The Menil Collection, Rothko Chapel and the Houston Center For Photography.

Or head east from the Houston Museum District and go to the University Museum at Texas Southern University or Blaffer Art Museum on the University of Houston campus.

Even if museums aren’t your thing, the Houston Museum District also has Hermann Park (with a train) with the Houston Zoo.

And best of all, many Houston museums have free admission or offer free admission times on Thursdays.

Shopping at The Galleria

If Houston tourists are looking for an international shopping destination, then Locktopia is nearby the Houston Galleria shopping mall. You’ll see why shoppers come from other countries to spend money here. Many designer names adorn the areas around the ice skating rink. Uptown Park has more options up Post Oak Boulevard.

Just across the 610 freeway from the Galleria is the River Oaks District with other high-end brand storefronts.

In the opposite direction from Locktopia is Rice Village.

You can shop, then eat at any of these destinations.

Houston tourists escape to nature

Sure, the nation’s fourth largest company might feel busy and fast moving sometimes. That’s why if you go past The Galleria on Loop 610, you can be in the middle of nature! Relax at the Houston Arboretum & Nature Center and Memorial Park and its new land bridge! Did you know that Memorial Park started as a training center during World War I?

Downtown Houston

Houston tourists can always find something to do in downtown Houston. Head east on Highway 59/Interstate 69/the Southwest Freeway from Locktopia.

Believe it or not, even in downtown Houston, you can get your nature on at our urban park Discovery Green.

Or enjoy a performance in the Downtown Houston Theater District. We have world-class venues like the Alley Theatre, Jones Hall, Wortham Theater Center and the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts.

There are restaurant options like the Downtown Aquarium which happens to have amusement park rides and other attractions too.
